Maybe the name is not too catchy...or short, but the taste and aspect is. If you are a cinnamon lover or are looking for a great post-workout meal, then you have to try this recipe. It took me 60 minutes to make it and it is healthy diet proof.
I bet you're wondering: "Do you really use cream cheese and oats in everything you cook?". Regarding desserts, mostly, yes. You know why? Because cream cheese is a low-caloric protein bomb and oats are the best source of quality carbohydrates and, also, vitamins. Also, if you're wondering if you could eat this bars as a breakfast, my answer is ABSOLUTELY YES! I recommend it, even.
To make the long story short, let's get to work, shall we?

Nutrition facts:

  • 578 calories

  • 29 grams of protein

  • 3 grams of saturated fat

  • 15 grams of unsaturated fat

  • 35 grams of sugars

  • 25 grams of fibre

Ingredients:

The Oatmeal Crust (Layer 1):

  • 2 eggs

  • 600 grams of oats

  • 50 grams of brown sugar or honey

  • 2 cups of milk

  • 200 grams of peanut butter

The Cream (Layer 2):

  • 1 kilogram of low-fat or non-fat cream cheese

  • 1 kilogram of chopped apples

  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon

The Caramel Topping (Layer 3):

  • 100 grams of brown sugar

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 50 grams of brown sugar

  • 1 cup of water

  • 300 grams of apple crumble

  • 1 tablespoon of butter or coconut oil

Instructions:

The Oatmeal Crust:

  • Preheat the oven at 170 degrees Celsius, mix well all the ingredients and pour the mixture in a baking pan lined up with baking sheet. Let bake for 10 minutes.

  • You can substitute the peanut butter with whole peanuts or walnuts and use peanut butter in the caramel preparation, instead of butter or coconut oil You can also add more sugar or honey if you like.

The Cream:

  • Mix everything well and pour over the crust and put again in the oven for 15-20 minutes.

  • Again, you can add more sweeteners if you desire.

  • When it's done, take it out of the oven and let it chill for a bit until you prepare the topping. Don't turn off the oven, but set it on 150 degrees Celsius.

The Topping:

  • Put a the water and the sugar in a pot and put them on a medium level heat. Bring them to a boil. Steer carefully by shaking the pot easily from time to time.

  • When a it's formed a golden aspect put the butter and milk and steer gently with a spoon.

  • DON NOT LEAVE THE POT UNLESS YOU WANT TO BURN THE CARAMEL

  • When it's formed a dense/condensed mixture, like a caramel, right?, turn off the heat and put the apple crumbles and stir well until it's well combined.

  • Spread the topping all over the cream layer and put it back in the oven for 10 more minutes.

  • Let it chill and put it in the fridge for a couple of hours or, even better, over night.

  • Cut in squares and serve!
